Join our Excellerators work insight programme to find out more about the world of work

It’s time to get your applications in for our 2022 Excellerators Programme, which offers an insight into the many different professions that make up an international law firm.

The weeklong, virtual programme is a chance for Year 12 students across the UK to gain an understanding into working life at Slaughter and May, as well as essential employability skills through interactive workshops, hands-on tasks and networking sessions. Plus, 20 eligible applicants will be offered a place on the Social Mobility Business Partnership’s award-winning work insight and skills programme, which involves the opportunity to spend time with four major London-based organisations, such as ITV, PWC and England Rugby, to learn about their businesses and entry career paths.

Here’s some of the programme’s highlights:

Interactive sessions with our range of legal and business services staff

Skills-based workshops, including ‘how to stand out on LinkedIn’ and ‘how to network effectively’

Offline tasks that will hone your business acumen and creativity in a commercial context

And here’s what a student from last year’s programme had to say:

“It was great to talk and network with people from Slaughter and May and it’s somewhere I potentially want to work in the future. It was also really useful to find out about all the different teams at the firm, like digital marketing and content, and I didn’t expect degrees in subjects such as philosophy or archaeology to be applicable if you wanted to pursue a career at a law firm.” STUDENT, EXCELLERATORS WORK INSIGHT PROGRAMME 2021

To be eligible for the programme, students must:

  • be in Year 12 at a UK state school at the time of applying
  • have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at grades 6–9

We will be prioritising students who meet the PRIME eligibility criteria.

The programme will take place virtually during the week of 25 July 2022 (dates may be subject to change), with a further week offered to eligible students through the SMBP programme during the week of 1 August 2022. Applications open on 30 March 2022 and will be considered throughout April – so make sure to get yours in early!
